BODYSSEY: Best Practices for Postural Ease, Functional Movement, & Restoration

The physical sensations of comfort and ease as well as their emotional equivalents (such as, “Feeling grounded, Having it together, and Taking up space”) are the sum total of all our body parts relating to each other and the whole body’s connection to earth and space. Exercise can be so much more when we have a “work in” before we “ work out”. Bodyssey classes are customized to meet the needs of whoever shows up, and we all gain more awareness, insight and greater comfort in our bodymind when we practice together!

Solidarity Through Song: Resisting Oppression through Joy & Compassion: An Evening of Music & Meditation- w/Anne, 6:00-8pm

Join us at The Be Sanctuary for an evening of singing and meditation to uplift our spirits and support our nervous systems as our country, our democracy, our neighbors, and the natural word are experiencing unprecedented threat. Or in the words of the Singing Resistance Movement of Minneapolis, we sing to provide emotional solace through “grief, rage, and a stubborn insistence on love.”

Our Solidarity Through Song event will be lead by Anne Comarda, LISW, psychotherapist at The Be Sanctuary.

BODYSSEY: Best Practices for Postural Ease, Functional Movement, & Restoration

Ever feel exasperated before beginning anything, especially an exercise or self-care regime? Have you ever wanted to improve your posture but felt like you were too far gone or you simply didn’t know where to start?

I can relate because that was me when I began my Bodyssey, although I didn’t know that’s what it was-the ongoing, extended journey of learning to inhabit my body. Here’s the thing… It does take time to establish an exercise habit and see the results, It takes time to uncover postural compensations and to reorganize your body to achieve greater comfort and an aesthetic that pleases you. Why? You may wonder. It is because these are things you learn through your body.

Body-based learning is a gradual process that unfolds over time, just like aging, which happens gradually but somehow feels fast. Adding simple hacks to your daily life to foster physical change may feel insignificant in the moment yet before you know it you realize you have been transforming your life through your body! My own Bodyssey is one of the most satisfying journeys of my entire life and it’s far from complete, which is good news! At the Be Sanctuary I continue to curate classes and I aim to be the kind of teacher I always wanted in this endeavor; leading with practical, applicable and sensible tips to feel better and grow more into myself. And I’d be happy to support you too! And know this to be true as well…

Postural tending pays BIG dividends and not just for your physical well- being. If you have ever experienced or are experiencing…. -Holding tension -Collapse from fatigue or low tone in your body -Anxiety -Depression -Hopelessness -Fretting -Overwhelm -Agitation -Rigidity -Instability -Disorganized thinking

I want to invite you to my Bodyssey small group sessions on Saturdays in May from 9:30-10:45 am, $25/ class, and drop-ins are welcome with a pre-registration requirement. The classes are often customized to meet the needs of whoever shows up and we all gain more awareness, insight and greater comfort in our bodymind when we practice together. I hope to see you there!

The Be Sanctuary Grief Circle

The Be Sanctuary Grief Circle

This Grief Circle hosted by Nikki the Death Doula is a space to gather with others who get it. Not because they have the answers (nobody does), but because they're in it too. Because sometimes the most healing thing in the world is sitting in a room full of people who aren't going to tell you to look on the bright side. Whether your loss is fresh or old, you're welcome here. Grief doesn't have an expiration date, and neither does your need to talk about it. Here's what this is: honest conversation, a compassionate space. Here's what this isn't: therapy, a lecture, or anywhere you have to perform being okay. Come as you are. No answers required.

Cultivating the Heart: A 4-week SoulCollage® series (Begins 5/6 for 4 weeks)

The Brahmavihāras—Lovingkindness, Compassion, Appreciative Joy, and Equanimity—are known in the Buddhist tradition as the divine abodes: qualities of heart that can be cultivated and lived. In this four-week series, we’ll explore each Brahmavihāra through meditation, reflection, and the SoulCollage® method, creating one card each week that embodies the felt sense and wisdom of that quality. Together, these cards become a personal “inner mandala” of resilience, care, and balance.

Journaling Through Grief with Nikki The Death Doula

Grief is hard. It can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and painfully alone, with emotions that show up uninvited and refuse to leave. If you’re navigating loss and wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again, you’re not broken, you’re grieving.

There are many ways to process grief, but journaling is one of the most accessible and powerful tools out there. In this grief journaling workshop, we’ll talk honestly about what grief really is, why it hits so hard, and how writing can help.
